Elvis doesn’t have the best reputation in the black community — and that’s putting it mildly. If you’re black and a fan of Elvis, you learn to keep it to yourself. But why is that? Some of it stems from legitimate accusations over cultural appropriation. The other part, rumors that Elvis made deeply disparaging remarks about black people during the early part of his career, are steeped in heresy, and and may not be as well-founded as some may think.
