(8 Nov 2015) MISTY COPELAND REHEARSES FOR UPCOMING EVENT TO HONOR WYNTON MARSALIS
Misty Copeland will dance Tuesday (10 NOV. 2015) as part of the Marian Anderson Award Gala in Philadelphia.
The Associated Press was invited to watch Copeland rehearse for her performance.
Copeland is the first African American woman to be named a principal dancer of the American Ballet Theatre. She will perform a new work choreographed by Philly-native Robert Garland, who is also the Resident Choreographer with the Dance Theatre of Harlem.
Marsalis is a nine-time Grammy winner, National Medal of Arts Award recipient and the first jazz musician to ever win the Pulitzer Prize for Music.
Journalist Soledad O’Brien will host the event.
