HelloBeautiful reports that on Monday, the fashion world’s most influential gathered at the American Museum of Natural History for the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) annual awards celebrating top talent and visionaries in design.
Hosted by singer and actress Cynthia Erivo, the CFDAs recognized innovation, creativity, and cultural impact.
Erivo tapped into her Wicked character for the night by rocking custom Gap, long nails, and Tiffany & Co for the evening.
Also seen on the scene was this year’s Fashion Icon Award winner Erykah Badu who was celebrated for her eclectic and avant-garde looks.
PEOPLE reports that she was clad in a Thom Browne sportcoat, embroidered cardigan, pleated skirt, and trousers in black cashmere and completed her look with a custom beaded CHRISHABANA headpiece and septum jewelry.
Badu was introduced by André 3000 who brought an orange caution cone to the stage, which he and Badu carried off together.
Also seen on the scene was fashion designer LaQuan Smith who brought Victoria Monet as his celebrity guest.
After outfitting the songstress in a glamorous gown, he enjoyed the CFDAs courtesy of Samsung Galaxy.
A press release reports that as part of Samsung and LaQuan’s likeminded approach to providing opportunities and mentorship to creatives, Samsung is supporting LaQuan’s Fashion Scholarship Fund mentees by helping power their creativity and productivity with Samsung devices including the Tab S10 Ultra, Galaxy Ring, and Galaxy Z Flip6.
