These Stars Are Redefining the Art of the Engagement Announcement

How do you make an engagement memorable? For these stars, who are making their nuptial intentions clear in 2025, it’s about how you let the world know.

For newly engaged couple, rapper Normani and NFL player DK Metcalf, a sports press conference felt just right. On March 13, Metcalf let the whole world know they were making it official while he fielded questions about his trade from the Seattle Seahawks to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“Hold that rock up baby,” he exclaimed, to which she gleefully obliged. Normani must have had Ciara’s prayer for a husband on speed dial. Not only were they introduced by the #relationshipgoals couple in 2020, the “Love Lies” singer said her fiance has “definitely answered a prayer.”

Announcing she said “yes” at 10,000 ft.? That’s how Winnie Harlow and her fiancé Kyle Kuzma roll. On February 18, the supermodel dropped photos of her midflight engagement on her Instagram. She and the Milwaukee Bucks small forward shared several photos to share their exciting news with the world.

Kuzma had chartered a private plane to whisk them away to a romantic Valentine’s Day getaway in the Caribbean. While soaring in the skies and surrounded by red roses and balloons, he read a poem that ended with him asking Harlow to be his wife.

And then there’s Zendaya. She and fellow actor Tom Holland haven’t uttered a word about their pending nuptials. But the Challengers star said all she needed to say by showing up at the 2025 Golden Globes with a 5.02-carat east-west cushion-cut diamond on her ring finger. The couple’s family confirmed afterward that the two had gotten engaged over the 2024 holidays.

With this symphony of Black love playing out on the grandest stage and the inventive ways stars are letting us know they’re in it for the long haul, we can’t wait to see who and how the next crazy-in-love couple decides to share their happy news with the world—we’re looking at you, Teyana Taylor and Aaron Pierre.
