Uzo Aduba celebrated the launch of her new Netflix series, The Residence, at Carondelet House in Los Angeles.
The “Hey Queen” dinner was also an Orange is the New Black reunion, with several of Aduba’s former series castmates attending the night in her honor. In her new role of Cordelia Cupp, who’s investigating a murder in the White House, Aduba told EBONY the character is, “the smartest woman in the room.”

Power Universe stars Lovell Adams-Gray (pictured with his wife, actress Kiana Madiera), Naturi Naughton and more attended the tastemakers’ event for the new NatGeo series, David Blaine: Do Not Attempt. The famed magician has traveled the world to highlight fellow endurance artists who pull off death-defying feats. That includes a visit to the College of Magic, one of the first schools in South Africa to enroll an integrated student body when it first opened during the reign of Apartheid.
Blaine then blew guests’ minds with a magic trick where everyone at New York City event pulled a Three of Hearts from our own random card deck. Spotted among the awed? Love Hurts standout star Mustafa Shakir.
David Blaine: Do Not Attempt premieres March 23 on Nat Geo and streams next day on Disney+ and Hulu.
