Venus Williams attended the SoFi VIP dinner at Nine Orchid in New York City to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), which granted women the right to take control of their financial futures. She spoke about how when she received her first tennis prize money, it was not equal to the men. “Thankfully, we finally got equal prize money in the Grand Slams in 2007…it was just a trend in the history of women having many barriers to face,” she shared. “The Equal Credit Opportunity Act was a huge lowering of the barriers. So it’s wonderful to pay this forward and celebrate these 50 years together.”
