Teyana Taylor’s Newest Role Is Setting Her Up To Be Hollywood’s New Action Queen

The trailer for Teyana Taylor’s upcoming film, One Battle After Another, just dropped and it’s primed to push the actress into action she-god territory.

Taylor plays a revolutionary out to save her daughter conceived 16 years ago with a fellow revolutionary played by Leonardo DiCaprio. As depicted in the trailer, he was not her mother’s first choice. In a blink-and-you’ll miss it moment, the two shared a steamy embrace – Aaron Pierce, hide your eyes.

Taylor has been steadily building a diverse portfolio of roles over the past few years. She showed she could handle the serious side of drama in the 2023 film A Thousand and One. She stars as Inez de la Paz, a mother who kidnaps her child from the foster system and sets out to reestablish a stable life for herself and her young son.

In The Book of Clarence, Taylor reimagines the historical biblical figure Mary Magdalene as a fierce, independent woman who commands chariots and gets her coin. She also played pivotal roles in Coming 2 America and the White Men Can’t Jump reboot.

Taylor is perfectly primed for the action genre and brings so much to the table. Her dance background led her to choreograph music videos for Beyoncé and appear in several other high-profile artists’ videos. With three studio albums under her belt, she has the timing and rhythm to move through highly choreographed fight scenes. And then there’s that ripped bod that defies all laws of nature and looks fierce while fighting baddies on screen.

With a supporting cast that includes veteran actress Regina Hall and rising star Chase Infiniti, One Battle After Another promises to be Taylor’s mark as a true action star.

One Battle After Another will be released on September 26.
