Serena Williams’ Toronto Tempo Team Will Be Styled By the Icon Herself

Serena Williams may be done with her tennis whites, but she’s not leaving the court. In a landmark move that signifies the growing power and influence of women’s sports, the tennis icon has joined the ownership group of the Toronto Tempo, Canada’s highly anticipated new WNBA franchise.

But she won’t only be involved with the team’s on-court logistics. The fashion mind behind the Serena’s World brand will also actively participate in the team’s jersey design and merchandise collaborations.

She’s bossed up, and it’s a good look for the tennis icon. In a short and sassy video on the Toronto Tempo homepage, Williams trades in a tennis ball for a basketball with the tagline, “New Court. New Game.” Yes, she’s in charge now.

The Toronto Tempo team is set to join the WNBA in 2026, marking a historic moment as the league expands into Canada, and Williams is one of the team’s first investors. But it isn’t her first sports ownership title. She has been expanding her presence in the landscape, adding to her portfolio that already includes stakes in the National Women’s Soccer League’s Angel City FC, the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, and TGL Golf’s Los Angeles Golf Club.

The WNBA is expanding, and Williams is expanding with it, proving that women’s sports are finally getting the attention they deserve. Not surprising that Williams is leading the charge. She’s always been ahead of the game.
