POWER DOWN: Shows to Watch During the Election Results

It’s Tuesday, November 5, Election Day. While you may be compelled to jump under the covers and frantically press refresh on X to get the latest results, tuning out for a few hours may be the best way to calm your nerves. Here are three shows to watch on TV to take your mind off election results–they’ll still be there when you return.

The Groomsmen Trilogy (Hallmark)

Three best friends come together to celebrate their wedding days in Greece, Italy and Bulgaria in this three-movie series. “Their bond is unbreakable,” says star B.J. Britt, who plays Pete, a kind-hearted politician in the series. Even though the trio come from different backgrounds, “You see how these guys make time for each other,” he shares. “Even when they have disagreements, they still turn around and show up for each other.” A lesson we can all learn after the election.

The Groomsmen Triolgy is streaming on Hallmark.

Beauty In Black (Netflix)

If you still crave the drama of two people with vastly divergent lives that intersect, tune into this! Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams) struggles to make a living while Mallory (Crystle Stewart) runs a successful business, but they find themselves entangled in each other’s lives. “Dramatic, rolling-coaster and nail-biting,” declares Stewart in response to what the show is about (with a little assistance from co-star, legendary actress Debbi Morgan). Adds fellow legendary actor and cast member Richard Lawson, “It’s salacious, lascivious and wrong.” That sounds like it could sum up any political season. Dive into this sassy and classy series with fabulous wardrobes to boot from the mind of Tyler Perry.

Beauty In Black, Part I, is now airing on Netflix.

The Real Housewives of the Potomac (Bravo)

Forget about Washington, D.C.; the real drama is a few miles away in Potomac, Maryland! The show’s ninth season includes returning cast members Gizelle Bryant, Ashley Darby, Karen Huger, Dr. Wendy Osefo, Mia Thornton and new cast members Keiarna Stewart and Stacey Rusch. The wives are doing it up big this season as they travel to Panama. There’ll be plenty of dinners, drinks and heated conversations to watch so that you can avoid them at your dinner table tonight.

New episodes of The Real Housewives of the Potomac air on Sunday nights on Bravo and the next day on Peacock.
