Footages surfaces of Patrick Mahomes Sr. pleading during DUI arrest ahead of Super Bowl LVIII alleges it’ll impact his sons performance.
Patrick Mahomes Sr. third DUI arrest almost found him behind bars with a lengthy jail sentence instead he received five years of probation. For a little razzle dazzle it was revealed one year will feature “intense supervision”. TMZ reports, Patrick Mahomes Sr. arrest video shows him pleading with police to let him go without repercussions. The February arrest happened in Tyler, Texas after Sr. was pulled over for driving a car without current registration.
Mahomes Sr. admitted to having a few drinks and likely being over the limit but tried using his son Patrick Jr. as leverage in the situation.
“Are y’all serious?” Patrick Sr. questioned. “I’m supposed to be going to the Super Bowl to watch my son play football, and this is what we’re doing?”
Despite stumbling in the field sobriety tests the former MLB pitcher insisted he wasn’t drunk and that his son didn’t need the drama before Super Bowl LVIII.
“Can I say one thing?” Mahomes Sr. questioned the officer. “My son is getting ready to play in the f–king Super Bowl, OK? Just listen to me. I am not drunk. I promise you. I’ve had some drinks. But he can’t have this right now. Listen, this can’t happen… Patrick Mahomes.”
Luckily the Chiefs went on to win Super Bowl LVIII and the DUI arrest didn’t impact Patrick Jr.’s performance. Hopefully Sr. can learn to use ride-share apps and avoid another DUI. A fourth DUI will be inexcusable and will likely see the judicial hammer come down on him like never before.
