The Museum of Flight in Seattle was a very interactive experience for kids. Not only do you learn about the history of flight (including space launches), you can try out airplane controls, see explanations of how aircraft, helicopters and even air balloons work. We visited the museum in June 2017 and our six year old son really enjoyed it.
Part of the museum was is the Boeing Field control tower which was very interesting also with its array of communications panels and instrumentation.
In the Aviation Pavilion across the street (accessible via a sky bridge), you can go inside an amazing assortment of planes, including Air Force One, Boeing 727, 747, the 787 Dreamliner, the Concorde, There was also the Charles Simonyi Space Gallery where a life-size Space Shuttle resides which you can go inside, including the cargo bay.
There was even a workshop for kids to make an air spinner out of paper. Highly recommended if you are ever in Seattle!
