Mariah the Scientist and Lil Yachty‘s former romance rumors have persisted for years and in a recent interview, the singer confirmed they dated but said the rapper was hesitant to hear her music.

Mariah recently joined Yung Miami on her Caresha Please podcast, and within minutes of the episode, Mariah was asked about her former relationship with Lil Yachty. After initially being hesitant to speak on their dealings, the “Spread Thin” songstress detailed what happened between them.
According to Mariah, the Atlanta natives met in high school but remained friends until she was in college. The “2 You” singer admitted that she wasn’t sure how to keep the rapper interested as she was now she was just a “broke college student” and he had a skyrocketed career. Still, she made the effort by making him a couple of songs.
“So I thought, ‘Well, he likes music, I like music, let me make him a song.’ And so that’s what I did, I made him two different songs and I put them on the iPod and I gifted it to him. I signed the back, it was real cute,” said the singer on Caresha Please.
Though she expected the “Hate Me” rapper to appreciate her gift, he passed on listening to them for fear of hurting her feelings.
“He told me he did not want to listen to it because he didn’t want to s*** on me,” she said. “He said, ‘I don’t want to Joan you, so I’m not listening to that s***.”

Mariah also revealed that after this incident, she was unsure of her place in his life and felt like she was “stepping on his toes.” At the time, Mariah decided it was best for them to end things and began to focus on her music career after her friends hyped her up.
Mariah The Scientist Is Head Over Heels For Young Thug
While her relationship with Lil Yachty did not work out, Mariah the Scientist is far from heartbroken over his lack of support.
Her high-profile relationship with Young Thug has featured the singer gushing over her man several times. She also does not have to worry about Thug not supporting her.
Young Thug has been behind bars for over two years as he stands trial for his YSL RICO case. However, that is not stopping him from showing his lady some love. As he entered the court on October 25, the rapper wore a sweatshirt that read “I love Mariah” in honor of her upcoming birthday on October 27.

The “Trance” rapper also posts his love Mariah on his Instagram page often, so it’s safe to say that her relationship with Lil Yachty is in the past.
