The Love is Blind Season 8 trailer has just dropped, and there’s no shortage of romance, tears and drama. The series, where people get to know eligible daters through pod rooms and never see one another until they make a decision to be together, has been a mixed bag for Black singles looking for love.
It’s hard to forget season 1, where Love Is Blind unfolded the Diamond Jack and Carlton Morton fight over his bisexuality. It was unfortunate to watch their love story die over something that should have been dealt with inside the pods instead of playing out over a nasty dispute poolside.
Fast forward to season 6, where Love Is Blind contestant Clay Gravesande left Amber Desiree Smith at the altar after their contentious six-week relationship. He did apologize on the reunion show, but it still didn’t mitigate how villainous the series chose to portray him and the death of Black love on screen.
There have been some success stories. Tiffany Pennywell and Brett Brown connected quickly in the pods in season 4. Pennywell recently shared New Year 2025 pics of her and her husband on her Instagram account.
Several interracial couples have also emerged from the series, including Lauren Speed-Hamilton and Cameron Hamilton (Season 1), Kwame Appiah and Chelsea Griffin Appiah (Season 4), Lydia Velez Gonzalez and James ‘Milton’ Johnson IV (Season 5) and more, proving that love can be blind across racial and ethnicity lines when visual stereotypes are eradicated.
Will this season prove to be a fruitful one for Black women and men looking to make an authentic and lasting connection? After analyzing the trailer, it doesn’t seem promising, but time will tell.
Here are the Black singles on Love Is Blind Season 8.
