Is photography art? This question has been hotly debated from the earliest photographs, right up to today’s AI generated images. There are strong arguments both for and against photographs being works of art – versus the trillions of throw-away snaps and “nice shots” in existence.

It goes on to explain how different artistic styles in the world of painting have influenced photography, and how photography in turn has influenced those styles.
