For the first time since it opened in 2021, MJ: The Musical has released full footage from one of its most powerful scenes: the show-stopping performance of “They Don’t Care About Us” and “Earth Song.” The exclusive clip gives fans a rare look at the emotion, choreography, and message that drive this key moment in the musical—and reminds the world why Michael Jackson’s music still hits hard today.
The scene combines two of Jackson’s most socially conscious songs, capturing his passion, frustration, and deep connection to global issues. The cast delivers with raw energy and precision, showcasing the kind of performance that’s helped make MJ a hit worldwide.
Since opening on Broadway in December 2021, MJ has played to over 1 million people, breaking the box office record at New York’s Neil Simon Theatre 11 times. The show won four Tony Awards—including Best Actor in a Musical and Best Choreography—and is now running in five cities: New York, London, Hamburg, Sydney and touring across the U.S.

Each production features a different lead actor bringing Jackson’s spirit to life: Jordan Markus stars in the North American tour, Jamaal Fields-Green leads the West End cast in London, Benét Monteiro performs in Hamburg, and Roman Banks holds down the Sydney stage.
The show takes audiences behind the scenes of Jackson’s 1992 Dangerous World Tour, giving a rare look into his creative process. Instead of just showing the music and dance moves fans already know, MJ digs deeper—showing the artist, the thinker, and the perfectionist behind the scenes.
The musical features a dream team of Broadway talent, led by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage (Sweat, Ruined) and Tony-winning director and choreographer Christopher Wheeldon (An American in Paris). Every detail is designed to honor Jackson’s legacy while pushing musical theater forward, from the sets and lighting to the sound, costumes and arrangements.
Over the years, MJ has also become a celebrity favorite. Everyone from Mariah Carey and Chance the Rapper to Queen Latifah, Common, Tiffany Haddish and The New York Jets have stopped by to catch a performance.
With the release of this new footage, MJ: The Musical is once again showing the world why it’s more than just a jukebox musical. It’s a powerful tribute to one of the greatest entertainers of all time—and a reminder of how his music continues to move and inspire people across the globe.
