How does someone become a collector of fine art? Dr. Joy Simmons discovered her love of art when taking a class with Alonzo Davis at Crenshaw High School. Today, her Los Angeles home is decorated with murals, paintings and other African and African American art objects that she has commissioned or collected over several decades including work from artists like Mickalene Thomas, David Hammons and Kerry James Marshall.
