Meet William Foster, Oscar Micheaux, Hattie McDaniel, the founders of Lincoln Motion Picture Company, and Lincoln Theodore Monroe Andrew Perry.
In the begin of the film industry, men and women of color weren’t shown in roles that mirrored the excellence of their communities. Individually, these people created roles and jobs for the black writers, producers, directors, and actors of their time. They showcased the real life of the American’s that reflected their own images. They even created the foundation of opportunities for today’s African-American filmmakers.
