Seems that Cardi B and the rest of us have an obsession in common: we’re all about the Netflix series You.
Launched in 2018 (initially on Lifetime), this tale about a gruesomely smart serial killer who has literally gotten away with murder works mainly because of its star, Penn Badgley. Badgley, who plays the character Joe Goldberg, is captivating, even as he’s sliced and diced his way through the past four seasons.
That’s why Cardi was all up in Joe’s business to announce that the latest trailer for the series’ fifth and final season will be dropping today (March 10) in collaboration with Netflix.
Cardi and Badgley’s mutual admiration for each other started in season 2. Cardi B’s name was on Badgley’s lips during a Q&A session about that upcoming season. He spoke on how Cardi has an authentic relationship with her social media image, and that’s why people like her so much. And more recently, the two switched their social media profile pics.
Cardi B has expressed her interest in being the one who finally takes down Joe. Badgley has said he wouldn’t mind if she was the one who did Joe in. If this happens, we’ll all be gagged.
For this final season, Cardi reveals that Joe has come into some money (thanks to his marriage to Kate Galvin), and they have a little cute surprise as they move back to New York, where it all started for Joe. Also returning is Marienne Bellamy (played by Tati Gabrielle). Cardi says that the trailer left her gagging but decide for yourself.
You, on Netflix, drops April 24.
