For Beauty in Black fans worried they’d never get to see Kimmie, her sister and Bellarie family in action again, fret no more. EBONY has learned that Netflix has renewed Tyler Perry’s binge-worthy series for season two. Like its first iteration, it will be released in two parts.
With that in mind, EBONY turned to two of its biggest stars, Taylor Polidore and Julian Horton, who play Kimme and Roy Bellarie respectively, to respond to some of the biggest “OMG” reactions on the web. Here are their answers.

“About time Kimmie stop acting slow because she pissed me off first season.”
Taylor Polidore: Everything changed! Losing her sister was the final breaking point. After years of mental and physical abuse, she never found the strength to retaliate for herself. But her love for her sister ran so deep that she was willing to risk it all to save her.

“Roy has a father who hates him, a wife who despises him and a mother who could care less. He got to turn to the hoes at the club for some affection.”
Julian Horton: I think Roy just wants approval and to make his father proud. He is hurt and of course says reckless and hurtful things, but deep down, I believe he loves his father and does want a functional family deep down. But sometimes, people don’t convey what they always feel deep down. They’d rather choose their ego and selfishness to operate from, and Roy does that a lot. I think Roy can find a way back to his family by being better and not letting distractions take up all his time. If he put the work in to be better, I think he would like the results.
“I was gagged when he said son’s look at your stepmother and she is also your boss. The last episode!”
Polidore: Kimmie is the queen of skepticism, so I just know she’s thinking, “What’s the catch?!”
“When Mr. Bellarie was beating Roy with that cane…”
Horton: That scene was one of the most intense scenes I shot, and I shot a lot of intense scenes in season one! Going back and forth with Ricco Ross, who plays Horace, is just something I’m grateful for. He’s a master at the craft, and just playing tennis with him and going back and forth was a blessing when it comes to the craft. With that scene, a lot of emotions from my own childhood came rushing back; I was very emotional in my mind and in that scene. A lot of improv was in that scene, but it felt so real because real emotions and vulnerability were truly being felt.
“I just finished #BeautyInBlack & the way Kimmie was crashing out behind her sister the entire season was EVERYTHING! & she got the last laugh in the end!? This show better get renewed for a new season.”
Polidore: I’d love to see Kimmie step into full boss mode using her intelligence to take over the company and making every single person who did her wrong pay.
Horton: I would like to see Roy pivot and try to become better to his wife, especially. I would like to see Roy change his behavior and do great things for the company, but knowing Roy, who knows, lol.
Beauty in Black, the full first season, is now playing on Netflix.
