The Real Housewives of Potomac star Karen Huger has received a two-year jail sentence stemming from her DUI arrest in March 2024. Convicted in December in Montgomery County, Maryland, the reality star must serve one year mandatory.
According to ABC News, the judge of her case said Huger will also have to pay $2,900 in fines.
The sentencing, delivered in a Montgomery County Circuit Court, concludes a legal process stemming from a March 19, 2024, incident in Potomac, Maryland, where Huger was involved in a single-vehicle collision. Huger crashed her 2017 Maserati after losing control and going over a median and a crosswalk. She told TMZ that she had been emotionally distraught and tried to avoid a head-on collision.
During the trial, prosecutors presented body camera footage and witness testimony that depicted Huger’s state at the time of the crash, which included evidence of slurred speech and her refusal to undergo sobriety tests. The jury found Huger guilty of driving under the influence (DUI), negligent driving, failure to control speed to avoid a collision and failure to notify authorities of an address change. She was acquitted of reckless driving.
Huger has been a central figure in RHOP since its premiere in 2016. She’s best known for her self-proclaimed “Grand Dame” title and is the creator of the fragrance La’Dame. Huger was last featured in the ninth season of the series, which ended earlier this month.
