The 2025 GLAAD Media Awards Nominations Recognizes Several Black Performers and Projects

Several projects and Black talent have been nominated for the 36th annual GLAAD Media Awards. The awards recognize fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community in the media realm.

Victoria Monét and Doechii both got the nod for Outstanding Music Artist. Durand Bernarr and Michaela Jaé Rodriguez have been nominated for Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist.

Breakout series Diarra From Detroit has been nominated for Outstanding New Series. Created by Diarra Kilpatrick, it follows a woman who gets involved in a murder mystery surrounding a Tinder date who ghosted her. The Chi, returning to Showtime for season seven, has been nominated for Outstanding Drama Series. Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero, a documentary on HBO, garnered a nod for Outstanding Documentary.

Wicked, starring EBONY cover star Cynthia Erivo, has been nominated for Outstanding Film. Quinta Brunson’s Abbott Elementary received a nod for Outstanding Comedy Series.

The ever-busy and always-employed Keke Palmer has received an Outstanding Podcast nomination for “Baby, This is Keke Palmer.” The One of Them Days actress delves into everything, from pop culture to the meaning of life, on the platform.
