Streaming giant Netflix is facing a lawsuit from a Florida man over the streaming issues and buffering during Jake Paul Vs Mike Tyson.

Last weekend Netflix delivered its most ambitious project ever with the highly anticipated fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson. The fight was a massive success with the company revealing 60M users logged on to catch the event. While the main event with Paul and Tyson was underwhelming everyone seemed satisfied with the event because there was no extra charge.

However, just because it was a part of the subscription doesn’t mean everyone was willing to accept issues with the stream.

According to TMZ, Florida resident Ronald “Blue” Denton filed a lawsuit against Netflix claiming they struggled to properly share the fight on the platform. The lawsuit alleges Denton and other Netflix subscribers “were faced with legendary problems, including no access, streaming glitches, and buffering issues.”

( function() {
var func = function() {
var iframe = document.getElementById(‘wpcom-iframe-b3c0fe958cf89f2210737a0077cfde4f’)
if ( iframe ) {
iframe.onload = function() {
iframe.contentWindow.postMessage( {
‘msg_type’: ‘poll_size’,
‘frame_id’: ‘wpcom-iframe-b3c0fe958cf89f2210737a0077cfde4f’
}, “https://embeds.go.ione.nyc” );
}
}

// Autosize iframe
var funcSizeResponse = function( e ) {

var origin = document.createElement( ‘a’ );
origin.href = e.origin;

// Verify message origin
if ( ’embeds.go.ione.nyc’ !== origin.host )
return;

// Verify message is in a format we expect
if ( ‘object’ !== typeof e.data || undefined === e.data.msg_type )
return;

switch ( e.data.msg_type ) {
case ‘poll_size:response’:
var iframe = document.getElementById( e.data._request.frame_id );

if ( iframe && ” === iframe.width )
iframe.width = ‘100%’;
if ( iframe && ” === iframe.height )
iframe.height = parseInt( e.data.height );

return;
default:
return;
}
}

if ( ‘function’ === typeof window.addEventListener ) {
window.addEventListener( ‘message’, funcSizeResponse, false );
} else if ( ‘function’ === typeof window.attachEvent ) {
window.attachEvent( ‘onmessage’, funcSizeResponse );
}
}
if (document.readyState === ‘complete’) { func.apply(); /* compat for infinite scroll */ }
else if ( document.addEventListener ) { document.addEventListener( ‘DOMContentLoaded’, func, false ); }
else if ( document.attachEvent ) { document.attachEvent( ‘onreadystatechange’, func ); }
} )();

If you watched the fight live, you presumably experienced stream issues at some point. Denton is suing for unspecified damages alleging a “breach of contract” alongside other violations. Netflix didn’t directly address Denton’s lawsuit but acknowledged the stream quality some users allegedly experienced.

“We don’t want to dismiss the poor experience of some members,” Netflix officials stated, “and know we have room for improvement, but still consider this event a huge success.”

Like Denton, we were frustrated with the stream buffering, but Netflix did well for their first ever live global sporting event. Hopefully, the company can reach a respectable agreement in this dispute.
