When EBONY first introduced the Power 100, it wasn’t just a list—it was a declaration. A bold affirmation that we, as a community, are culture shapers, standard setters, and the inspiration the world seeks. It was a celebration of Black brilliance in all its forms, and each year, that legacy only grows stronger.
As we unveil the 2024 EBONY Power 100, I am reminded of the words of Shirley Chisholm, a trailblazer who declared, “You don’t make progress by standing on the sidelines, whimpering and complaining. You make progress by implementing ideas.” That is the essence of power: the courage to not only dream of a better tomorrow, but to act boldly and decisively to create it.
Power is not simply about titles or status. It is about action, purpose, and resilience. It is about using our talents, voices, and platforms to create opportunities, lift others, and amplify our impact. Power is built on vision, fueled by determination, and sustained by the belief that we are destined for greatness. This year’s honorees embody this ethos—they are innovators, disruptors, and torchbearers lighting the way for us all.
In the words of Beyoncé, “Black culture is the cornerstone of world culture.” At EBONY, this truth is at the heart of everything we do. Black creativity, resilience, and excellence have always shaped how we see ourselves and how the world sees us. EBONY exists to amplify that truth—to tell our stories, to celebrate our contributions, and to honor the individuals and institutions driving progress and change.
