Ominous, Bold and Stylish: Scorpio Fashion Icons We Adore

We let our zodiac signs determine if we should take a job, go on that trip or break up with that friend. Why not use it to help us get dressed? Through this series, we will explore how our zodiac sign can inspire and enrich our wardrobes and help us put our best fit forward.

There’s something so satisfying about Halloween falling amidst the Scorpio season. The water sign perfectly encompasses the spooky season’s mysterious aura and ominous spirit.

Scorpios are intense and passionate, with a rich magnetism that permeates their ubër moody fashion sense, right on time for the arrival of the true depths of fall when jackets become as mandatory as a steady supply of Vitamin D to compensate for the increasingly shorter days.

Here are some of our favorite Scorpio-style stars who churn out eye-catching looks like it’s their full-time job.

Eve November 10, 1978

The Eve of destruction and super saucy business fits; Eve’s style evolution has been particularly fun to watch. A collared coord loves to see Eve coming, as blazers and matching sets have deliciously ornamented her recent book tour, the perfect backdrop to promote her latest literary venture.

This is certainly a shift from the dissident draping she sported as a young MC. Gone are the days of picturesque pink cornrows and top model meets tom-boy fits. Although her style has turned a more refined corner, her edgy Philly-born ethos is still present.

Sisqó November 9, 1978

Sisqó certainly had no qualms about letting us know what his favorite piece of clothing on a woman is. But Sisqó is certainly a bit of a style savant in his own right. He was decades ahead of the wave by dying his hair blonde, a trend we’ve seen take off amongst a whole new generation of Black men. His wardrobe, complete with studded leather coats and matching pants, has placed him snuggly on the shelf of rockstar stylings — all night long!

Odell Beckham Jr. November 5, 1992

On the field, OBJ is a powerhouse, and off the field, he’s a darn dapper dresser. His sneaker game is the accumulation of at least 100 individual sneakerhead wish lists, and he’s got a jewelry game worthy of a Sothebey’s evaluation. He can sport a full leather blade trinity-ish fit with the same casualness as he rocks his game-day uniform.

When his days on the field wind down, it would be really cool to see him take up more space in the fashion universe. He’s certainly got the closet for it.

Willow Smith October 31, 2000

We’ve all known Willow Smith was a bonafide rockstar since she whipped her hair back and forth on the track, and now, with hit after hit going viral on TikTok, Smith’s subversive persona has only become further enticing. Her style profile also fits this bill, and if you are not convinced, look no further than her recent collab with ACNE Studios. A rebellious collab that honors Willow’s staple style.

Eva Marcille October 30, 1984

Ever since Eva Marcille conquered her biggest fear on ANTM, posing with a spider on her face, she’s been an icon in my eyes. Now, she is fully in her acting bag, and her fits reflect this next chapter of her career, but that scene-stealing boldness she enamored us with all those years ago remains front and center.

From midriff baring two pieces to mixed patterns galore, Marcille knows the power of commanding attention without having to do too much.

Nia Long October 30, 1970

Nia Long is the undisputed spokesmodel for ’90s fine, a sector of attractiveness coveted by Gen Zers whose primary association with that era stems from classic films and old music videos. So, it makes sense that the Brooklyn native’s style is as classic as her beauty.

She sticks to simple cuts, minimal patterns and neutral color palette, all of which reflect her timeless allure.

Gabrielle Union October 29, 1972

The Compton Clover and our favorite fictional broadcaster, Gabrielle Union does glam like nobody else. Whether on a cruise or just chilling in her backyard, looking red-carpet-ready is her default.

Like Eve, though, she does enjoy a good matching set. Basically, she can do it all.

Tracee Ellis Ross October 29, 1972

Tracee Ellis Ross is a hero of style. There is truly no joy like seeing her latest fit pic pop up on our Instagram feeds. Like her Girlfriends co-star and star sign sister Persia White, Ross’ style favors subversive silhouettes and edgy borders, paired with structural bravado and fresh-off-the-runway garbs.

From the ‘It Boots’ of the season to her affinity for Paco Rabanne gowns that channel her mother’s disco flair, she just gets it. Ross is a well-kitted star, and the self-timer on her camera seriously deserves an award for best supporting character in a lead role. Talk about a dream team.

Persia White October 25, 1972

Our forever girlfriend, Persia White, was the stylistic awakening for alternative Black girls everywhere. She was a bohemian rockstar who was so well-dressed we forgave many of her free-loading antics. Her IRL style has a similar avant-garde quintessence, channeling that Lynn-esque free-spirit nature. She slays amorphous black gowns and backless cloth overalls with the practiced ease of someone who has been paving their own lane in the eclectic style genre for 24 years running.
