In honor of Black Music Month, MOCkicked off its brand new partnership with the National Museum of African Music (NMAAM) by collaborating on a special Pediatric Virtual Program! This program featured Mr. Thomas Spann, percussionist and founding Band Director at Fisk University.
Mr. Thomas Spann brought the classroom to hospitalized children and brought American music history to life. Spann recounted and demonstrated the African rhythm and drum traditions and techniques that laid the foundation of American music genres that simply wouldn’t exist without Black artists and Black music innovators throughout history.
