Rihanna suggests Kendrick Lamar “deserves” Super Bowl LIX halftime performance and doesn’t understand “what’s to doubt” about the selection.
Kendrick Lamar is currently dominating 2024, unlike any other rapper, thanks to his massive hit “Not Like Us“. Later in the summer, King Kenny announced he would headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX halftime show. Unfortunately, the announcement came with backlash from natives upset that neither Lil Wayne nor anyone from New Orleans was selected.
Somehow fans gathered the impression someone from the hosting city would be selected. Lil Wayne even took to social media to express his disappointment upon hearing the news.
Rihanna discussed the topic with Entertainment Tonight at the latest event for her Fenty and Puma shoe collaboration.
“What do you think of Kendrick Lamar doing the Super Bowl?” reporter ET Kevin Frazier asked Riri. “Go. Let’s go,” a confused Rihanna stated. “What is there to doubt on that?”
Perhaps the billionaire girl boss wasn’t aware of the fake outrage on social media about Kendrick getting the gig.
“It’s a diamond on a ring finger, honey, it’s meant to be. It’s Kendrick Lamar. He deserves it. I cannot wait to see it. Kendrick, Thank you.” Rih said doubling down. “Kendrick’s the one that’s supposed to do it right now. We should never doubt him. He’s an amazing artist, top tier…He actually brought so many people together, that’s what culture is.”

Last year Rihanna held down the halftime duties while revealing she was pregnant with her second child with pretty flocko Asap Rocky. While the internet feels indifferent about the RocNation’s choice Roger Goodell is ecstatic about the selection. Goodell even extended the NFL’s partnership with RocNation for the halftime show that will last well into the future.
Super Bowl LIX kicks off on Sunday, February 9, 2025, and will mark Kendrick’s second halftime show performance this decade.
