Find Your Perfect Style Balance This Libra Season

We let our zodiac signs determine if we should take a job, go on that trip or break up with that friend. Why not use it to help us get dressed? We continue to explore through this series how our zodiac sign can inspire and enrich our wardrobes and help us put our best fit forward.

Fashion, like life, is about balance. Learning to toe the line between two extremes is an invaluable facet of mastering your personal style, and no one exercises this principle quite like a Libra.

The seventh astrological sign in the zodiac, the Libra star sign, is represented by the scales, signifying a particular knack for harmony and synergy, which fairs well for them in the world of fashion where proportions are key.

As an air sign, Libras are quite bold and adventurous when it comes to style. Though balance is paramount in their approach, they are not afraid to take risks or step outside the confines of rigid style rules. Leaping out from the building of archaic style principles onto the ledge of superb style risks has been a more than fruitful endeavor for the Venusian sign.

Their ongoing balancing act has gifted the culture with some of the most venerated dressers of our generation.

From A$AP Rocky’s zeitgeist-shifting clothing conquest to Michaela Coel’s bold red carpet looks, Libras are the zodiac’s defining dressers.

Here are a few of our favorite Libra fashion darlings.

LisaRaye McCoy September 23, 1967

You can’t discuss principled fashion without talking about LisaRaye McCoy. From The Players Club to All of Us, McCoy’s on-screen appearances have always been marked by impeccable style, but her off-screen fashion comes with layers of lore that stretch beyond surface-level aesthetics. For those who keep up with her fashion, you’ll notice she has a fondness for white and has been wearing it almost exclusively since the early 2000s. When asked why she only wears white, McCoy lamented about the pristine energy that exudes from an all-white wardrobe. She also added that her dad’s death may have contributed to her aversion to other colors.

Now, McCoy has said that she isn’t totally against the idea of wearing colors, but as the saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Christina Milian September 26, 1981

The woman who taught us how to dip it low, Christina Milian, is the quintessential It Girl when it comes to early aughts fashion, and she has maintained that stylish steez as she’s added wife and mother to her lengthy resume as a cultural icon.

She loves bold prints and patterns, which strikes a nice contrast against her fondness for matching sets. Her style is striking and uniform all at once.

Michaela Coel October 1, 1987

Michaela Coel is best known for her work as an actor, filmmaker, producer and all-around entertainment powerhouse. She’s made us laugh to the verge of tears with her Netflix hit Chewing Gum and brought us to literal tears with her dramedy, I May Destroy You.

But a lesser-discussed facet of Coel’s enduring lore is her impeccable style. From primordial-esque Paolo Carzana gowns to silken dresses, she plays with textures, silhouettes and colors in a way that is as visually enthralling as her award-winning entertainment endeavors.

A$AP Rocky October 3, 1988

Perhaps one of the most fashionable dads on the planet, A$AP Rocky’s role as a proud papa and partner to one of fashion’s greatest muses has taken center stage in recent years. But before he was on diaper duty, A$AP Rocky was fusing the worlds of hip-hop and high fashion in a manner that has landed him the title as one of fashion’s greatest figures.

From full Bottega looks to quilted coverups, his style fuses a mix of tailored pieces and purposefully oversized fits that are changing the way we think about what a dad fit really is.

In fact, A$AP Rocky seems to have only gotten wavier after having kids, a rare occurrence for most new parents. But did we really expect anything less from this family of fashion killas?

Tyler James Williams October 9, 1992

Our favorite substitute teacher turned full-time educator on Abbott Elementary, Tyler James Williams, can certainly teach us a thing or two about tearing up a red carpet. His sleeveless tuxedo look at the Emmys was a daring choice and a complete 180 from the tempered-down stylings of Gregory Eddie.

He’s dapper to epic proportions and plays around with silhouettes in a manner we, unfortunately, don’t get to see from men very often.

Hopefully, his partialness to cropped suit blazers and wide-legged trousers will inspire other men to take more Libra-flavored risks.

Mya October 10, 1979

Mya’s style is like, woah, for real!

The DC native has been a beacon of obscurest fashion inspo for decades, and like a fine Sauvignon Blanc or an aged gouda, Mya’s fashion only gets better with time.

From extravagantly belted looks to color-blocked two-pieces, the Grammy Award-winning artist has curated a style profile unique to the bold looks she has been rocking for the better part of 20 years.

Cardi B October 11, 1992

Cardi B’s reign as an archival princess will be chronicled in history books.

A muse in Mugler and a vision in Jean Paul Gaultier, Cardi B’s effortlessness when rocking these deep-cut pulls on red carpets and beyond is something that should be studied.

From the loud-mouthed exotic dancer who made us crack up with her antics on Vine to now being one of the biggest names in hip-hop, Cardi B’s style evolution has been fascinating to watch.

Ashanti October 13, 1980

The queen of vacations and enduring glows, Ashanti, has given us as many looks as she has hits, and for that, we’ll always be grateful. Her Instagram feed is a one-stop-shop mood board for vacay vibes. From sublimely cut-out mini dresses from Louisa Ballou to an immaculate collection of above-the-knee boots, Ashanti’s style transcends climates and seasons.
